Stress can be defined in many ways. According to the American Psychological Association, for example, stress is “a normal reaction to everyday pressures, but can become unhealthy when it upsets your day-to-day functioning.” On the other hand, the Merriam-Webster dictionary defines it as “a physical, chemical, or emotional factor that causes bodily or mental tension and may be a factor in disease causation.”
In reality, not all reactions to everyday pressures are stressful, not all stress is harmful, and not all human beings react the same way. Furthermore, stress is not a reaction to adverse circumstances like we usually think of it; stress is the response to our way of thinking about the circumstances, or the meaning we give to any given situation. Stress, therefore, can be our best ally or our worst enemy based on the way we think about it -our...
For many people around the world, this week marks the beginning of winter vacations, which is considered one of the busiest weeks of the year since the timing goes hand in hand with the Christmas and new Year’s celebrations.
Our hope is that you start 2020 fabulously, that’s why we want to give you some tips so that you can give yourself that well-deserved time off to rest and enjoy a nice vacation with your loved ones.
#1 Plan the time you want for vacations ahead of time.
Vacations are a goal that all people in the world have in common, since we count the minutes until our time off, when we can forget our jobs and dedicate our time to enjoy life. But vacations, like any goal, have to be visualized and we have to work on different objectives so that we can take advantage of them as much as possible.
It doesn’t matter what you decide to do during your days off, what’s important is that you maximize your enjoyment and that you leave your work at...
I have always been known as somebody who works hard, but believe it or not, this has not always given me the best results. Well they say that excesses are bad, right?
Let me tell you, when I am at work, I am focused on what I am doing, I review my daily tasks, I organize them, I schedule the time needed to do whatever I need to do and work had to get the results. But there is always something unexpected that makes me reorganize my agenda and it is fine, it is part of the daily work, however, sometimes there are so many things that I do nonstop, that I end up working at night, outside my work schedule.
I work using social networks, since my clients are there, additionally there is always an email more to review or a message to answer, and the list goes on and on and on, Do you find yourself in the same situation?
Many times I finish working so late that I don't have time for anything but sleep to get up very early so I have time to do everything I have to do. It is here that I forget...
For many generations we have believed that working long hours and losing sleep for the companies we work with will help us go above and beyond our goals and undoubtedly lead us to the top of the success ladder, however, you must think about working intelligently:
• Knowing when to focus your mind on certain activities.
• How much time to dedicate to work.
• Which are the most effective work techniques.
• Keeping a perfect balance among all those activities that will have an important impact on our lives.
• Without forgetting to rest.
This time we will talk about rest, first we will talk about physical rest.
This rest is exclusively about sleep, for an adult it is recommended that this activity be done 6 to 8 hours daily, this range will allow your body to renew, cleanse, and repair any area it needs to.
Sleeping is one of the most simple and forgotten activities for a working adult, and while there may be days when there is no other option than to...
I’d like to start this blog siding with the belief that all of us human beings are different, we have a set of abilities and tastes that, combined with our experience, make us unique and inimitable, now, that authenticity derives from our past experiences, is guided by our mentors, and molded by the opportunities and detailed by the decisions we have made throughout our life, and from that precise combination arise hobbies, and hobbies are activities that we like to do based on a certain passion that makes us feel we are in the right place while we are doing them because they use our skills and abilities 100% and make our minds and our bodies work in different ways.
The greatest experts have told us throughout history that we must have at least 3 hobbies to function optimally, be more productive, and allow our daily activities to become our passion and make us feel triumphant in our projects, without generating excessive fatigue, stress, or damaging effects to our health, the...
Family has historically been considered the greatest driving force and source of inspiration for human beings, and including this family unit in your goals and dreams can help you accomplish them or get to them faster. But this is not the only reason why you should include your family in your vision.
We all have personal dreams and goals, but there are some dreams in which all or several members of the family participate, and they all have to do their part to make them a reality as well. Some examples could be to save for a new car or to organize a trip to a destination that interests all, among many others. What’s important is that when it is a shared goal, all have to do their part in order to achieve the goal or dream we’re talking about.
This is very important because for the youngest in the family who are not old enough to work to help out with money, they can help out in other ways, involving...
Vacations were made to rest!, That’s the phrase we all tell ourselves the second our last day of work ends, just before we go on vacation, and we really meant it, until we get home and realize that our days off won’t be as restful as we thought, but guess what? We CAN plan how our vacation will be.
Many of us use our days off to catch up on the 8,000,000 things we have to do besides our jobs, and when that short period of time when we are off ends, we are more tired than before we went on “vacation”. In order to avoid that, we must be more productive and clearly note the difference between what you want to do, what you have to do, and what you are able to do.
#1 The reality: Make a list of everything that you have to do and everything that you want to do, writing down our to-do list will helps us visually realize the magnitude of what we intend to do and will help us make better decisions....
Current technology has brought us many benefits like access to information from almost anywhere in the world where we have access to the internet and from devices that fit in the palm of our hands. Another benefit that we have is the rapid communication with an unimaginable number of people around the world. This technological change impacts both people as well as companies, to be close to their loved ones or their clients.
Social networks are a very powerful tool to get closer to people that are far away and to be able to share messages on a scale that was deemed impossible just a short time ago. Many companies and personal brands take advantage of this technology every day to get closer to potential clients and to access audiences that were difficult to reach in the past. The main problem of social media is that most of us spend too much time looking at our friends and relatives that are far away and neglect the people that are near.
We must learn to use...
It’s a fact of life that in big cities and because of constant changes in our lives we have to constantly commute from one place to another, be it in a car, public transportation, planes, trains, or buses. The time we invest in moving from place to place either for business or pleasure is always getting longer and most people consider all that travel time as lost time and end up wasting it.
What can I do?
There are many ways to use all that time for our benefit, here we will talk about some of them and about some tips that will help us make the most of each minute.
An excellent use of the commute is to keep ourselves up to date with books that will support your development or that count as continuing education. Whether you prefer to hold a physical book or to listen to an audio book, either one will offer you an excellent opportunity to continue learning about subjects that interest you while you commute from place to place, the advantage of audio books is that you...
